STEPS:
1. Begin by choosing wood scraps that are durable and somewhat rustic in texture. Using the skill saw measure and cut wood to the length desired for your unique container. For my planters, the dimensions are 7″x 7″ square and an 11″x 7″ rectangle. Corners can also be mitered for a more tailored look.
2. Using the electric drill assemble the containers by securing the corners with two wood screws. Totaling in the use of eight screws for each of the four corners. Firmly attach the bottom with the remaining four screws.
3. In a well-ventilated area, stain the container to match your color preference. Allow to dry between applications.
4. Line the bottom of the planter with small gravel for adequate drainage. Combine the potting mix with sand and fill the container. Arrange succulents in groupings and taper heights to add visual appeal. Choose varieties that have cool colors or interesting texture.
