As fall finally beckons and the cool air rushes through the rolling pastures of Alabama; I am just dying to fill my kitchen with all the flavors of the season. My fellow Food Network Star finalist and bestie Amy (Shamy) feels the same way. Even though she lives a million miles away in Hawaii, she’s still a mainland girl at heart and shares my love fall staples like sweet potatoes, apples, sausage, bacon, and plums. Lacking a bit of inspiration lately, we decided to whip up some recipes using our favorite things, and see what we ended up with. Below are the fruitful results of the endeavor. To make the most of the ingredients I wanted several recipes that include a couple of great breakfast or brunch options, and a one-dish dinner that’s everything comfort and hearty. Sweet Potato Pancakes with a Bacon Maple Syrup and a Plum Dutch Baby bring it home on the brunch front, and an Apple and Sausage Mac n’ Cheese is just the creamiest, rich combination of spicy sausage and pasta that’s just perfect for a weeknight dinner.
